Hi, I’m Tsubaki 287! Welcome to “ Tubaki In Japan ”!
My nickname is Tsubaki, feel free to call me Tsubaki!
In 2016, I came to Kansai through a dual-degree study abroad program and spent two years here before graduating. In 2016, I came to Kansai through a dual-degree study abroad program and spent two years there before graduating. In 2018, I entered the workforce and joined a major manufacturing company, where I was assigned to Tokyo and have remained ever since. I initially worked in the domestic sales department, and in 2024, I transitioned to the E-commerce division, where I now handle a mix of online marketing and sales.
Through learning about personal finance and investment planning, I successfully purchased my first property in Taiwan in 2022. I also own a villa in Echigo-Yuzawa, Japan, dedicated for skiing.
I’ve been skiing for few years now and own two snowboards. I’m even considering getting a ski instructor license someday lol.
A Bit of Personal Background
I didn’t grow up in a wealthy family. My parents’ highest level of education was high school, and they never had the knowledge to teach us anything about financial planning or money management.
When I was a child, my father set the worst example—he gambled away our entire inheritance. From junior high onwards, I started taking part-time jobs, working as a banquet waitress. In high school, I continued working to save money, and in college, I juggled multiple jobs while saving up for studying abroad and repaying my high school student loans. Even during my time studying in Japan, my father’s business failed and left him in massive debt. My mother was forced to sell the house she had worked so hard to secure just to help him repay his loans. Honestly, I can’t recall a time when our family finances were ever stable.
That’s exactly why I’ve worked so hard to break this vicious cycle. I’ve committed myself to learning about personal finance and climbing up from the very bottom. As I shared in my profile, I became a nationally certified AFP (Accredited Financial Planner) in 2021. But there’s still so much to learn, and I hope we can all grow together!
Why I Started This Site
When I first came to Japan on my own, I was often overwhelmed trying to find the information I needed. Everything online was so disorganized, and it was hard to tell what was accurate or trustworthy. Even beautifully written posts often failed to actually help me.
So, I created this site with the hope of sharing what I’ve learned and experienced from daily life in Japan. My goal is to make information clear, simple, and easy to understand—especially for readers who are looking for answers, just like I was.
Thanks to all of your support, this humble site—with its laid-back vibe—has been able to cover the basic costs of its domain and server through ads. If you’d like to support me even more, feel free to request an invite code, use my referral links, treat me to a cup of coffee, or just give a few free claps below! I truly appreciate all of your encouragement!
These days, I’m a part-time travel blogger, also contributing articles as a travel journalist for “Bu-bu Japan (步步日本). My travel blog features travel guides, itinerary tips, and food recommendations. Feel free to check it out!
